The UPLB Human Resources Development Office (HRDO), in partnership with the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs, held its first-ever Academic Personnel Committee (APC) Forum on January 16, 2025, at the ICOPED Auditorium.
The forum aimed to provide participants with a clear understanding of the university’s academic policies, processes, and guidelines while ensuring they were informed about updates or revisions.
It also emphasized the importance of compliance and accountability in fostering a culture of adherence to these policies. Additionally, it served as a platform to address concerns, clarify uncertainties, and discuss challenges related to academic policies and procedures.
Dr. Lotis E. Mopera, a member of the Academic Personnel Fellowship Committee (APFC), facilitated discussions on faculty-related matters, including filling vacancies, determining ranks, promotions, and the faculty waiver of the UP or out/tenure rule.
A Q&A session followed, led by Dr. Charina Gracia B. Banaay, assistant to the vice chancellor for academic affairs. Other APFC members from various colleges also participated.
HRDO Director Roderick C. Javar concluded the forum by expressing his heartfelt gratitude to the faculty members and administrative officers for their participation.
He highlighted the event’s success and the possibility of making it an annual gathering to expand knowledge-sharing opportunities. He said that it will also update the university community on new processes and guidelines related to the Academic Personnel Committee.
He also announced an upcoming forum for research and extension staff and administrative officers.
These initiatives are aligned with HRDO’s commitment to service excellence and reflect the office’s dedication to addressing the evolving needs of its stakeholders and continuously improving HR practices across the university. (Yra E. Bautista)
