Break the Chains of Mediocrity

Ever since they were just young kids during the formative years of their childhood, most people were taught and conditioned to adjust, adapt, and conform to the standard norms and unwritten rules of society because they need to fit in or else they run the risk of getting shunned and bullied for being different. Instead of embracing their uniqueness and showcasing their distinct qualities that make them who they really are, they repress this gnawing urge to stand out and shine through since they are afraid of attracting unwanted attention to themselves because of the sheer ignorance, bigotry, and intolerance of lesser minds surrounding them. This crude and misguided indoctrination adversely affected countless folks and that is one of the reasons why a lot of individuals today suffer from low self-esteem, and stunted confidence in themselves which negatively influences not only their interpersonal relationships in the outside world but their performance in their respective careers as well.

Due to this poor self-image and diminished belief in their unique qualities, inherent abilities, and innate skills, a lot of people stay out of the limelight, clam up, and remain quiet in the sidelines instead of voicing out their opinions and sharing their ideas because they have this nagging fear of being rejected and ridiculed relentlessly. This can be detrimental to their career development, personal growth, and professional advancement therefore this needs to be addressed as soon as possible otherwise they might stagnate and fester deep inside instead of blossoming and radiating out of their shells. With that said, here are some tested techniques and proven pieces of advice when it comes to building confidence and self-esteem to help UPLB employees reach the peak of their potential, break the chains of mediocrity, and rise above the limitations that they have subconsciously set for themselves.

Mix it up with a Mentor

To help people move forward and progress in their careers, it is crucial to have a caring and competent mentor who will help them navigate through the obstacles hindering their path, guide them towards their goals and dreams in life, admonish and reprimand them firmly when they start to go astray,  and give them them the motivation and inspiration to push harder on days when they feel like giving up. Identifying these true leaders and separating them from incompetent bosses is crucial because it is highly beneficial to shadow their every move, follow their impeccable work ethic, learn from the best practices that they espouse as well as listen intently to the timeless voice of experience.

My Name is Legion for We Are Many

After finding a coach and mentor who will provide guidance and light the path towards success, it is now the perfect time to burn bridges from damaging relationships, disconnect from bad influences, silence naysayers and doubters as well as avoid drama from fake friends because these people do nothing but foster negativity and fuel the ravaging fire of unnecessary drama in your life. In the wake of cutting ties from all these excess baggage weighing them down and preventing them from moving forward, amassing a formidable army that has their back and will support them every step of the way especially on dark and depressing times is equally important because these support groups will build them up with encouragement, turn their weaknesses into strengths, and at the same time hold them accountable for their actions.

Consume Content: Class is (Always) in Session

After finding an inspiring leader, building the solid foundation of their army from the ground up, and establishing the respective roles that every member plays for the collective empowerment of their party, it is time for individuals to personally fix the holes in their games, shore up their weak points, hone their skills and talents as well as add more tools to their arsenal. The best way to start is to look for self-help books and motivational literature that will help them develop the proper mindset necessary towards improvement and shed bad habits that they formed through the years. UPLB employees should also take advantage of the golden opportunity to attend seminars, workshops, symposia, conferences and other learning and development interventions because listening to various resource speakers and subject matter experts hailing from different areas of expertise will help them evolve into well-rounded professionals capable of greater things as they add more wrinkles to their game so to speak.

Last but most certainly not the least, since the consumption of relevant content is the key to continuous improvement and ultimate victory, university employees can also explore the possibility and consider the option of pursuing postgraduate studies because these degrees will give them the necessary credentials and competence to ascend all the way to the top of the food chain and corporate ladder. Learning never stops because the universe and the forces of nature never stop teaching as well. Therefore, UPLB employees should always open their hearts and minds as they remain receptive to these fleeting life lessons and unconventional learning opportunities because these accumulated golden nuggets of knowledge and wisdom will help build their self-esteem and boost their confidence in due time for sure.
